Mayor Tony R. Keats deserves to be recognized with the title of World Mayor. He goes above and beyond for not only his community but Newfoundland as a whole.

Born and raised on the island, he grew up with a passion for politics. He carries this passion into every job or decision he makes for the betterment of the people.

Mayor Keats has been on the council of the Municipal government for over 31 years and has proudly held the title of Mayor for 27 years. In both provincial and municipal associations, he advocates for all of Canada and the world.

His passion for politics and people is witnessed every day by those who can truly say they are proud of how hard he works for his hometown, province, country and the world.

Tony Keats couldn’t be a better choice…he is always available to not just the people of his town but the interests of the whole province. He has volunteered his time as President ti Municipalities where he made sure that everyone had an equal and strong voice at the table. One must surround themselves with good people and they will them do good things…Mayor Keats has been very successful with this.

Commended by Triffie Parsons, Town Clerk, Indian Bay, Newfoundland and Labrador
Mayor Keats is amazing. He is very dedicated to his town and municipalities at large in Newfoundland. He has been on many committees. He does a podcast that is both informative and entertaining.

During the covid pandemic, he continued to involve and interact with his town and the residence by putting of virtual contest and by doing a weekly cooking show. He truly believes in helping his residences, town and all municipalities in Newfoundland.

I would like send my vote and support for Mayor Tony Keats of Dover NL, Canada. Mayor Keats has proven to be a great mayor. I had the privilege of meeting him multiple times throughout my years in Municipal Politics. Vote for Tony!!!

Commended by Teena M. Fonthill, Ontario, Canada
I believe Mayor Tony R. Keats is well deserving of the title of World Mayor.

Mayor Keats is the most humble and empathetic person I know. His love for his community goes beyond his family and home. His hometown residents are like family to him, and he treats everyone as such.

He is very hardworking as he works three jobs purely for the love of it. One of these jobs is being a caregiver for a man with autism. Mayor Keats treats this man with nothing but love and respect and considers him like family.

If there is one thing that Mayor Keats is most passionate about it is politics, and what should be done for the betterment of his hometown, as well as communities in the local area, but his love of Newfoundland, where he was born and raised, extends to the whole island. Every community needs a mayor who will fight for their rights. Without a trusting politician, you have nothing.

Mayor Keats has been involved with the Municipal government, on council, for over 31 years and has been mayor for 27 years. He’s been highly involved in the provincial and federal municipal associations to advocate for all municipalities around Canada and the world.

He works relentlessly to fight for the rights of all Newfoundlanders, as well as globally. Nothing brings him more satisfaction than knowing he is doing a small part to help the beautiful island where he was born and all countries around the world.

In my opinion, there is no one more deserving of this award than Mayor Tony R. Keats.

Commended by Amy C., Grand Falls-Windsor, Newfoundland and Labrador
I first met Mayor Keats after I was elected to municipal council in 2009 through interactions with him at Municipal events with Municipalities NL where he served as a board member. I was elected to the Board as Central Director and was privileged to serve alongside him and to learn from him. His mentorship has been a valuable tool for me in manoeuvring through Municipal life and I now serve as President of MNL. I look back over Tony's time in that role and constantly pull from what I've learned from him and apply it to the work I do daily to support Municipalities.

Tony is more than a mentor. He is a friend. His commitment and passion to bettering the lives of community members is real. He deserves to be World Mayor.

Commended by Leanne K., Dover
Tony Keats has my Vote for the Mayor Award. I’m sure there are many great Mayors in the running but Mayor Tony Keats sets the bar high to be any better. He’s humble, giving, helpful and is always doing things for children wether it be arts, crafts, cooking, games etc. Whenever Mayor Tony is needed you don’t have to look far nor do you have to wait. He’s at top of his game in hospitality, organization and being helpful to others.

I have known Tony since I've been a little girl. He's has been a long standing, valuable member of our town and has shown so much dedication and persistence towards the betterment of our little community. Tony deserves recognition for all his years of service. Whether listening to the needs of his citizens, or fighting to help improve our town, he's always remained steady with his drive and contribution while maintaining the utmost professionalism and kindness. I have dealt with Tony on both a personal and professional level; he has assisted me with employment, and has given me invaluable information and advice while I helped rally our townsfolk together for fundraisers and community contribution for a new playground a few years ago.

I feel that Tony is most deserving of your acknowledgement and would utilize the recognition to help further his abilities to give back to the town of Dover, and perhaps reach further if within his means. I no longer live in my hometown but still see plainly that Tony's hard work and dedication still helps keep our town running as smoothly as possible. I sincerely hope this man remains the head of our municipality; he is irreplaceable. I hope this helps his standings with your organization, because if anyone deserves it, it's Tony! Thank you for your time.

Commended Kelly S., Newfoundland and Labrador
Mayor Keats is dedicated to his community. In rural NL a mayor who keeps close connections within their community and strives to elevate the community to the highest levels that involves safety, infrastructure, tourism and beyond is deserving of recognition and Mayor Keats certainly is. He is not only community minded but is family minded, and this is evident in all that he supports and strives to achieve.

A Vote for Mayor Tony Keats who is truly the World's Greatest Mayor!

Mayor Tony Keats is a phenomenal leader in how he engages his town, other towns across the province, country and around the world. I have known Mayor Keats for about 13 years first being introduced to him as a young Deputy Mayor and then Mayor from the Town of Bird Cove at the time. He was first our Small Towns Director and then Vice President on Municipalities Newfoundland and Labrador (MNL) and a mentor to so many.

When he became President of MNL, I was voted as Small Towns Director to serve under his leadership. His welcoming nature to everyone on that new board brought us all together as a collaborative team to achieve so many great things during that 2-year tenure. For me, as a young newbie, he was also a direct mentor in how I could approach my new role, and make it even better in how I engaged with the largest caucus of our municipal membership. He had experience with it and he was more than happy to share his knowledge to help me in any way he could. He was a leader who taught by example and always showed absolute grace to anyone he met.

During his time as President of MNL, he was also directly involved in the national organization leading the way for the Atlantic Caucus and engaging so easily with Mayors and Councillors across the country. He also led a mission to Bolivia where he shared best practices from his years of service with municipalities and help those governments look at options within their own countries. There are so many stories to tell about Mayor Keat's work ethic and overwhelming commitment to municipal issues here at home, across the country and even around the world!

I could not think of any other Mayor I know that is more deserving of the World's Greatest Mayor title! He's held his position with grace, dignity, and vigor for 27 long years now. He's done so with the overwhelming support for his town and often his province and country. Tony will always be a favourite mentor of mine, one that thought me the value of being a leader with humility, one that works hard to the benefit of everyone, and one that ensures his residents and municipal colleagues feel seen and valued. Mayor Keats wants everyone to have their seat at the table or to be wholly represented at that table. He values the sharing of all ideas big or small, with the end game of finding the best solutions that can help all our towns and cities prosper.

Commended by Dean. B., Lake, Newfoundland and Labrador
I have known Tony for 25 plus years on a municipal government level and over those years have seen him work on behalf of his community his region and our province. I have had the privilege of working alongside of him for those years and this is the reason I fully support Mayor Tony Keats for World Mayor recognition.

Commended by A. J., Canada
It is with great enthusiasm that I send my vote and support for Mayor Tony Keats.

I have known Mayor Keats for many years, he is one of the most approachable and professional people that you could ever meet,
mayor Keats goes above and beyond for not only his residents but for those throughout the world, his many years of advocacy with regards to municipal government and those people involved is outstanding.

From his many years with the municipality of Dover, the province of NL, the country of Canada and the many others such as Bolivia and throughout the world is remarkable.

His advocacy work is something that is remarkable and beyond belief, from clean fresh drinking water to making sure to have an environment that we can all enjoy, environmental responsibility and making sure to help and spread the word about climate change.

To say that Mayor Keats deserves this award is an understatement, he is most rewarding to become World Mayor.

I would like to support Mr. Tony Keats of Dover Newfoundland, Canada in his nomination of World Mayor. His commitment in serving his community for almost 30 years is a display of his commitment to his community and its citizens

I am not a resident of Dover, but had the opportunity to visit Dover last year and saw the way that the town was so well organized and maintained. Besides his role as mayor, Mr Keats has also volunteered his time with Municipalities NL, an organization that supports local Municipalities in Newfoundland and Labrador
