Mexico City Mayor Marcelo Ebrard won the 2010 World Mayor Prize Introducing World Mayor The City Mayors Foundation now seeks nominations for the 2012 World Mayor Prize. The Prize is awarded every two years to a mayor who has made outstanding contributions to his / her community and has developed a vision for urban living and working that is relevant to towns and cities across the world. While it is up to the constituents of a mayor to judge his / her achievements, the City Mayors Foundation is seeking candidates who are at least in their second term of office. Anyone wishing to nominate a mayor is also asked to consider whether his / her nominee is likely to agree to the City Mayors Code of Ethics, as mayors wishing to be considered for the World Mayor Prize will be asked to sign up to the Code. Nominations must be accompanied by a thoughtful supporting statement. Timetable Nominations will be accepted until the middle of May 2012. A shortlist of 25 nominees will be published in early June 2012. The winner of the 2012 World Mayor Prize and other results of the World Mayor Project will be announced in early December 2012. Background The City Mayors Foundation, the international think tank on urban affairs, organises the World Mayor Project and awards the World Mayor Prize.
