Comments in support of
Leopoldo Eduardo López
Mayor of Chacao (Venezuela)
The finalists for the 2008 World Mayor Award were chosen on the number of votes received and, more importantly, on the persuasiveness and conviction of supporting statements. Below we publish a representative selection of comments received about Leopoldo Eduardo López, Mayor of Chacao, Caracas, Venezuela.
Comment: Leopoldo López is the best mayor in Venezuela. Chacao is one of the safest District in Caracas, clean and good looking. Lopez takes special care of old people with activities and medical care in their own homes. He has improved the "barrios" of poor people in his district, He makes a lot cultural events for the people of Chacao. And a lot more. For all this, Lopez is my candidate for Mayor of Venezuela.
Comment: Mr López is a great man and great leader. He is truly committed to his country and county (Chacao.) He has implemented innovative programs that have benefited children, adults and elderly. He is a hard working mayor, that has surpassed or endured many obstacles (mostly political.) He has done much and the whole Venezuelan community can say, without a doubt, that Chacao is one of the safest county in the entire country. He has created new hospitals, schools and parks.
Comment: Leopoldo López is doing a really good job. His leadership is the new political generation!
Comment:
He has been acting according to the needs of the people in Chacao, not only his own wishes. He has made this place safer than any other in Caracas, he is also working on the reconciliation of the two political sides of the Venezuelan people. He works together with other mayors in order to reach a true positive change in the quality of life not only of the people of his town but also of the cities around. He is the best mayor of Venezuela!
Comment:
Leopoldo Lopez is doing a really good job. His leadership is the new political generation!
Comment: Mayor Lopez has made Chacao the best place to live in Caracas and in the whole Venezuela, in all senses; he has improved all kinds of cultural activities, art, museums, economical development, and excellent police services that provide personal security for the communities and their citizens as well as their medical care and assistance. Chacao under Mayor Lopez administration has enhanced the gardening and places for relaxation and repose of its inhabitants as well as the betterment of the streets and public roads throughout the town. We can proudly say that he is the best Mayor Chacao and the whole Venezuela has ever had. His youth, knowledge of what public service means, dynamism and creativity is absolutely wonderful, we only hope one day he becomes Venezuela's president as well.
Comment: My vote goes to Leopoldo López. He has proven to be an extraordinary leader even facing a fierce and un-loyal opposition from the neo-communist and revolutionary government of Venezuela.
Comment: Leopoldo López deserves to be the winner of the World Mayor Award because of the work he has developed in Chacao. He pays attention to the major problems like education, health, poverty, recreation even youth delinquency. Chacao is the safest place to live in Venezuela. The mayor loves his city. God bless Leopoldo!
Comment:
He is a great mayor, the best we have in Caracas, I think that he deserves to win because he has made many works for the city, and he is a democrat.
Comment: Leopoldo López has fought again delinquency and poverty in Chacao
Comment: Leopoldo López has proved to be an excellent young executive during the years he served Chacao. As a matter of fact, I´m sure he will make a good president, when the time comes.
Comment: Great leader! Leopoldo López is committed to his people and to their values. Venezuela would be a better country if we could have more like him. Definitely the BEST mayor!
Comment:
Lopez is the best mayor in Venezuela. The only place in Caracas where you can walk and live without been assaulted, or killed, is Chacao.
Comment: Amidst the decaying city of Caracas, Chacao is an island of order and care for citizens. Leopoldo López makes all Venezuelans dream of better cities for a troubled and decaying country, so poorly administrated that all the money coming from oil sales cannot make for a better living for us.
Comment:
Lopez has been the best Chacao Mayor for the last 15 years. People who live in Chacao are very sad because his period in office is coming to an end next year. He is finishing his second period, with no re-election possible. Good job Lopez!
Comment: Congratulations Leopoldo López. You have been a very good mayor. We thank you!
Comment: Leopoldo López has done an excellent job even though the Venezuelan Government has constantly interfered trying to make him fail. Leopoldo is our hero.
